This local private equity group recently purchased a paper pulp mill in Oregon that employs 100 workers.  After they bought the mill, Wayzata Investment Partners fired workers and informed them that they could reapply for their old jobs if they were willing to take pay cuts of 12%-28%. Work with WIN to Pass The Employee Free Choice Act!

Workers Interfaith Network is gearing up to work with others in the community to pass the Employee Free Choice Act, or EFCA. EFCA would make it easier for workers who want to work collectively to improve their workplaces to form unions. The legislation would also make it harder for employers to engage in hardball tactics meant to intimidate workers who want to organize. Unfortunately, the US Chamber of Commerce, Wal Mart, and other powerful corporate interests are trying to keep EFCA from becoming law. They plan to work hard to block EFCA. Security Officers and WIN Build Justice Together

At 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9th, the bargaining team representing over 800 security officers with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in the Twin Cities reached a tentative agreement with their employers that establishes a new five-year contract.
